Why should we conduct background checks?
Employers have a duty to check the backgrounds of prospective employees for the sake of shareholders, fellow employees, and customers. A thorough background check can save an organisation an enormous amount of grief and expense down the road. BackCheck's services can forestall the need for additional HR staff, accelerate the recruiting process and dramatically improve the quality of background information that is necessary to make well-informed hiring decisions. These benefits will significantly reduce expenses associated with turnover and re-training - not to mention the damage that a 'bad hire' can inflict on the company and its customers. The relatively minor cost of a BackCheck is insignificant compared to the cost of correcting a bad hire!

How can we measure results?
Key indicators that prove the positive impact of a BackCheck program are decrease in employee turnover, decrease in cost of hiring and training budgets, reductions in internal fraud and theft, improved overall employee performance and improved employee morale. BackCheck internally tracks the number of “hits” we uncover during background checks, such as criminal records, negative reference information, poor credit history, education embellishments. BackCheck will work with you to measure the benefits of your pre-employment screening program.

Does BackCheck ever contact applicants during background checks?
BackCheck will inquire with the client as to their preferences. Some clients prefer that BackCheck contact the applicant directly for missing information, while others prefer to handle this internally. BackCheck will never contact your applicants directly without your authorisation.

How do we implement BackCheck across our company?
BackCheck suggests that managers, HR, or security representatives be responsible for ensuring the BackCheck process is followed for every new hire. In general, our clients use internal communications to implement BackCheck, distribute release forms, and provide operational instructions. Corporate Intranet, email to appropriate personnel, faxed memos, interoffice mail, conference calls, and group meetings are simple ways to inform your team that BackCheck is your pre-employment screening and exit interview source. We can send you examples of corporate policy and memos that have been effective in the past. This website is always available with a downloadable forms area. We suggest that each location where applicants visit have a supply of forms pre-printed and ready for use.

How will we be invoiced?
BackCheck prefers electronic billing via email. Alternately, BackCheck will send you an invoice via fax or post. If you prefer, BackCheck accepts payment via Visa, MasterCard, or American Express.

Is there a contract to sign?
No! BackCheck does not require you to commit to use of our services for any period. Our quality of service and value of information keeps customers happy.

As a candidate, how secure is the information I submit to BackCheck? What happens to my personal information once my BackCheck is complete?
All personal information is stored securely by BackCheck. Once consent forms are received and a background check is commenced, access to information is restricted to end-users as defined by consent forms and in accordance with the Data Protection Act. Information is stored and maintained for a period of time as required for privacy legislation, audit purposes, and client requirements.
