BackCheck's Intuition Discovers a Family Affair
BackCheck collected a positive reference from a contact provided by the applicant. The reference stated that she had known the applicant for several years and provided fairly glowing details. BackCheck then contacted the company directly to verify the applicant's employment. The HR manager at the company checked employment records and found that the company had never actually employed the applicant! Upon further examination and contact with the applicant and reference, BackCheck later discovered that the reference was in fact the applicant's mother and provided a false reference for her daughter.

Reason for Resignation is Revealed
BackCheck contacted an applicant's previous place of employment to verify employment dates and details. Upon speaking with the company's Regional Sales Director, BackCheck verified that the applicant had indeed resigned from their previous role. However, the Regional Sales Director added how the applicant was actually provided the option to choose to resign or to have the police called. It turns out that the applicant had been found to be selling products under the table and pocketing the cash for the better part of a year!
